About Multizone Kits

Most homes with gas central heating have just one zone controlled by a single thermostat.  This means that when your boiler is on then all your radiators are being heated up, wasting energy and costing you money.  Take control of your energy bills by upgrading your home with our multizone solution and only heat the bedrooms you are using when you are using them, reducing the work your boiler needs to do and cutting your energy bills.

Every home, lifestyle, working pattern and the way that you use your home is different, which makes it hard to give an accurate answer. The more active your home and the busier your schedule, the more you will save.

In short, yes. Smart TRVs are scheduled through the mobile app. This is the easiest and most convenient way to schedule, much quicker and more intuitive than programming an existing heating timeclock.

Compatibility

Multizone kits will work on any radiator with existing thermostatic radiator valves fitted. We do however recommend using our kits on bedroom radiators, as this is where the greatest savings lie.

Yes. Our multizone kit has been designed to work in harmony with your exiting heating controls and is designed primarily to allow you to turn off radiators in unoccupied rooms when your heating is on. Our multizone kits allow you to more accurately control temperature compared to a traditional thermostatic radiator valve, generating additional savings.

No, our multizone kits work in harmony with your existing boiler controls. If you wish to control your boiler, this is possible with the addition of a wireless boiler control unit, which does require a professional installation by a Gas Safe engineer because the installation involves opening the boiler to make the connections.

Installation

Installation is very straightforward, see our easy to follow video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO8hqVj4KWI

  1. Download the app
  2. Plug the internet bridge into your broadband router
  3. Follow the instructions within the app to add the SRVs to the system
  4. Unscrew your old TRV and fit the new SRV to your radiator

No. We have designed all our kits to be simple plug and play installation requiring no specialist skills or tools.

The multizone kit should be installed in rooms which are unoccupied for long periods of time when the heating is on, ie bedrooms for the greatest saving, possibly the dining room if you have one.

We don’t recommend installing the multizone kit in bathrooms due to the high levels of humidity that can damage the electronic components within the SRV.

A thermostatic radiator valve is a temperature-limiting control for your radiator. It is designed to turn the radiator off when the room reaches a certain temperature. Due to TRVs having a 1-5 temperature scale, they are notoriously inaccurate for setting the temperature and often lead to overheating of rooms.

If you are in the unfortunate situation where your existing radiators are not fitted with TRVs, then unfortunately you will not be able to install our multizone kits without a change to your radiators. Regular radiator valves are not compatible with either TRVs or SRVs. The valves on the radiator would need to be changed by a local heating contractor to allow SRVs to be installed.

Occasionally, the securing nut on the existing TRV may be very tight and difficult to unscrew. If this is the case, then you may need to use a wrench or strap wrench to loosen it. When fitting the SRV, remember to only tighten the securing nut finger-tight.

Maintenance

Due to our kits using advanced communication technology, battery life is generally in excess of 2 years. The current battery level of each SRV can be viewed on the app. Each SRV uses 2 AA batteries, we recommend using high-quality alkaline batteries. Detailed instructions on battery replacement can be found in the app.
